Hello and welcome to another exciting Drama Club Season 2020!  I am excited to see each of you back for another fantastic year. I have a lot of fun ideas for this show and I would also like to welcome our new members!  Drama Club is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of hard work! I have high expectations not only for our performance, but also for our cast and crew, as a whole.  Casting will be very different this year. Please read the instructions very carefully. If you have any questions, please send me a message. You can email me directly from this website.

Please download and print the document at the end of this page!

Our mandatory parent meeting and auditions will take place Sunday November 17 from 2pm to 4:30 pm in the Father Brissom Hall.  Please download the drama permission form (includes our t-shirt order form, Parent letter, Rehearsal Schedule and other vital information). You must review the rehearsal schedule and alert me in advance of any conflicts, (dance, cheer, and other show performances). I realize we have a lot of talented folks who are in other activities. Although you might be able to quickly adjust after missing a few rehearsals, it's not always kind to your fellow cast and crew. Please let me know so I can plan accordingly. With that said, it is your responsibility to learn any missed dances, songs, blocking or stage directions upon your return.

Please be on time.

At 2pm we will have a brief orientation for ALL cast and crew and at least one parent. Please bring with you your signed permissions slip form, your signed rehearsal schedule, T-Shirt order form and contact sheet and your DUES ($60 single; $120 family rate for two, capped at $150 for more than 2 members).

From 2- 2:30 we will have an orientation this year. Drama club will run different this year so please have one parent in attendance. After orientation, the entire cast and crew will do a brief ice breaker .  At approximately 2:30 K-4 ensemble cast and crew will be dismissed. All cast and crew will receive their scripts. THESE are the ONLY copies you will receive. It is your job to keep it neat, safe and do not lose it.

From approximately 2:30-4:00 The auditions will take place for 4-8th grade, only.

You will each sing "Singing in the Rain" and "Make 'em Laugh"

Those considered for the part of Lina will be required to sing a bit of "What's Wrong with Me?"

I will provide you with an aside to read. I will ask you to read for multiple roles and characters.

You will be taught a brief bit of choreography to Singing in the Rain.

Auditions are only for cast members in 4th to 8th grade this year.

Dancers will be assigned specific dances. We have a lack of space and many of our dances will require stunt choreography.

Please be prepared: k-4 will be in Moses Supposes...and will dance and sing.

DUES are payable by November 17th! Bring with you to your audition or submit directly to the Drama Box in the main office no later than November 17th

In GENERAL  what I am looking for is confidence. Lucille Ball  said that she wasn't funny, she just always had good writers and no fear. This is what we are looking for in this show. Creativity and confidence will go a long way to getting the part you desire. Don't be afraid to "dress" the part.

With that said, this is a love story between Kathy and Don. I will look for chemistry between actors. This means you will hold hands, embrace and yes, "smooch" (blocking will be used) briefly.

Lina Lamonte is the true star of this production. She doesn't need to be a fantastic singer, but she must be full-on in her diva and shrieking character. Lina is the comic in this production and she must be overly confident and demanding fashionista type.

Dora Baily-- gregarious "entertainment" reporter

Don Lockwood--suave, confident and a bit arrogant. Must dance and sing.

Cosmo Brown--Sense of comedic timing (can be played by male or female, but character is a male). Excellent singer, dancer and must have animated facial expressions.

Kathy Seldon is a fantastic singer, dancer. She is graceful and a bit of a klutz. She's not afraid to give over confident Don a piece of her mind.

Roz, RF Simpson, Dexter and the teacher are fantastic characters in and of themselves. Be confident and have fun!

The policeman, Sam and the minor characters ALL have a role to play in many performances. The entire cast will dance!

Be confident. Prepare and have fun!
